Roger's City of Heroes Characters In Action

by Roger Bourke White Jr., Jul 06

Introduction

Here are some action shots from my City of Heroes adventures.

Cyreenik

Purple Pizzaz is a simple swordsman. Here is he part of a team of spellcasters, the result is spectacular atmosphere.

Circle of Thorns (COT) mages always look freaky. This closeup taken by Zelta during a wild melee shows why: they have shining spheres in front of their eyes!

Herr Pie

Bad Bug rarely picks on someone her own size.

Here she is picking on Supa Trolls in Skyway City. They are level 15 Lieutenants, she is level 17 in this shot, so they are still a formidable match. When she beats up enough, in this case 100, she will get a "monster" badge (the Dee Jay badge).

Here she is after another big monster. (That is just the foot and ankle you see.)

The monster is Babbage, the biggest of the Giant Clockwork monsters. In this case he was out because he came to amush another team, and they ran away rather than killing him. Bad Bug kept him in sight and called out for help. It took ten minutes, but a team of heroes finally came to together and beat him, and Bad Bug got a badge.

Babbage got annoyed at Bad Bug, and, yes, she did get squished... twice.

Zelta Here Cyreenik is patrolling Port Noble. She is looking for Warrior and Family "bosses" -- a monster catagory. When she kills enough, she gets badges.

Here she is after the big monster of a "trail -- a special kind of mission. In this case she is on the Sewer Trial and the monster is the Hyrda Head. She will get a lot of XP, a nice enhancement, and a badge if the team defeats the Hydra Head and successfully completes the trial. I can't remember is if this shot is from a winning try or a losing try. Trails are tough enough that failures are common.

Purple Pizzazz Here Cyreenik is following a stone tank, another team member who is very tough. When there's a tank on your team, the tank starts the battle by running into the middle of a "mob" of monsters, and getting them very angry at him or her ("aggro'ing" the mob). The monsters can't do much damage to the tank, so he or she will survive for a minute or two. Meanwhile, other team members gather and do serious damage to the mob once the tank has distracted them.

Mastermind villians have "pets." Get enough Mastermind villians on the same team, and you have a convention, or so it seems. That's what's happening with this team that In-bred Jed is on.

Alstore

Zelta and this Master Illusionist monster are both taking a pause during an intense battle.

Alstore

Here Zelta is giving the Clockwork King monster a Time Bomb "hot foot." This is one of Zelta's favorite tricks for dealing with monsters when she is "soloing" a mission -- conducting a mission without other team members. She gets both the invisiblity and the time bomb from her "Device" second specialty. Her first specialty is "Fire", and once the bomb goes off she will begin the roasting!
