It's only the first half of January but we have likely experienced a Surprise of the Year. We have had the president of a mid-sized country kidnapped in a small-scale raid by foreign soldiers and spirited off to another country.
Wow! I can't recall this ever happening before. It's a big surprise. Next we get to see the consequences.
