Chapter Seven: Epilog

home Chapter one. two . three . four . five . six . seven

After the Allura incident, I saw Gunther a lot more than I saw the Baron, and I don't know why, but I kept finding him more and more... heartwarming. I loved his entertaining. I loved seeing the joy he brought to the valley, and I saw his spy work as manly and clever, not frightening. My respect for him grew and grew, and my love, too. The Baron and I still got on very well. In fact, he asked me to help teach more science in the valley, and put me in charge of a fund to do so. I used that fund to start a college, which I am still running to this day.

And, we still went on field trips to discover new things. But my relation with him became warm and cordial. We became, "just friends" as it is sometimes put. I loved his science, but every so often I would see hints of something beyond his science, and I would get chills. I am as close as I want to be to the famous Baron Rostov.

For me, the Baron became a man of dangerous mystery. Gunther, on the other hand, became a rock... such a strong one that he became my husband.
